 Truncate large text fields for one filed only

On the Misc page there is a setting for "Truncate large text fields (More... link)". Is it possible to set this (and specify the number of characters to display) for one field on the list page only? (not just one field on the entire list page, but one column of fields and not the other columns, if that makes sense).

Unfortunately this feature can be only applied to the whole table.
As a workaround you can set 'View as' type of some fields to 'Custom'. In this case 'Truncate ...' option won't be applied to those fields.
